What Happened
According to KCTV5 / Gray News, the crash occurred around 8:08 p.m. Sunday when a man driving a Mini Cooper fell asleep at the wheel and collided with a horse-drawn buggy in Jackson Township.
Police said the impact ejected all six occupants of the buggy, two adults and four children, onto the roadway. Two children, ages 9 and 7, were pronounced dead at the scene. The two adults and the remaining two children were transported to the hospital with injuries of unknown severity. The driver of the Mini Cooper was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The horse pulling the buggy was killed in the crash.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
