Wayne County, NY (April 25, 2025) – A runaway horse caused a serious head-on collision on Alderman Road in Wayne County, leaving five people injured.

Accident Details: According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Evelin Lazo-Rivera was driving with four passengers when her vehicle struck a horse that had run into the road. After hitting the horse, Lazo-Rivera’s car collided head-on with a truck driven by Eric Minns, a union electrician on his way to work with two passengers. The horse was killed in the crash.

Five people were injured. Authorities said none of the injuries were life-threatening.  

Investigation and Legal Considerations: The horse’s owner reportedly arrived at the scene and immediately checked on the drivers and passengers. No citations have been issued yet, but the sheriff stated they are pending.

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the injured may have the right to pursue personal injury claims
